Digimura flexes its muscles at LA Fitness.

Gone are the days where gyms were mere fitness and leisure centres, these days gyms are high-profile power-houses with state-of-the-art body-sculpting equipment, and are dedicated to encouraging you to get fitter, live a more healthy life, and strive for that perfect body. The concept is great, the inclination is nagging, and gyms across the country beckon as the holy grail of well-being and mecca to the well-intended.

Whether a dedicated follower of fitness or a somewhat reluctant fighter of flab, the crucial elements in sticking to the routine and ‘pursuing the dream’ are the elements of encouragement and inspiration.

LA Fitness is renowned for its dynamic holistic approach when it comes to the body perfect, and is well aware that often it takes three-parts encouragement and one-part stamina to succeed at the fitness game. That being the case, they chose to trial Digimura to enhance an high-traffic area of one of their prime-site gyms in North London.

Digimura was selected specifically as it meets all fire regulations for public spaces, and is, at the same time, a durable, high-quality product that has been specifically developed for digital print.

The LA Fitness stairwell in the large foyer leading up to the main gymnasium provided a large canvas to work with, and previously, there had been nothing in place beyond a stark white wall. LA Fitness’s design team searched through their life-style portfolio of digital photos to find a bright and visually inspirational image to cover the entire stairwell wall. The high-impact, high-resolution image of the swimmer was printed on 28 square metres of Digimura Tactile, and the experts from Muraspec were called in to hang the installation.

Jamie Wilson of Mollymawk has worked with Digimura since its introduction, and is quick to point out ... “the great thing about Digimura is that you don’t have to worry about battoning and framing an image as you would have to do with a lesser blue-backed product. Depending on the space to be covered and regardless of whether a scaffold tower is needed, Digimura is applied directly to a pre-pasted wall, making it easy to hang, position and reposition”.

Barry Dellow, the installation expert from Muraspec, says that there are just a few basic rules of thumb to follow when hanging Digimura … but fundamentally, that it is quick, clean and the results are highly effective.

“When hanging Digimura”, he says, “firstly make sure you have plenty of unobstructed room to work within so that the full design can be laid out as a visual reference, allowing you to trim off any excess prior to hanging. It is then a matter of sorting a scaffold tower if you need one; ensuring that the surface you are applying Digimura to is clean, smooth and dry; marking out the wall to show where the individual drops will fall (aligning and allowing for your overlap areas), and your are ready to go”.

"As with any wallcovering, it is always recommended to prime the surface prior to applying the adhesive, as this will guarantee that the product takes to the wall consistently across the area. You’ll find that Digimura really is simple to install, and all you have to do now is sparingly apply the adhesive to the wall area, one strip at a time, match up the design as necessary, smooth out any bubbles as you go, leaving any overlap areas 'til last for finishing".

"Finally, once all the panels are hung, clean off any residue adhesive, remove the scaffold tower if you used one, stand back and admire your work, pack up, leave and let the Digimura installation do the rest of the work".

The simple art and science of installing Digimura! … and it is no wonder that so many customers have found it a pleasure to work with … not only does it have a ‘perfect score’ fire rating for commercial and public spaces, but it is also quick and clean to install, simple to remove, its digital print performance is outstanding, and without a shadow of a doubt, has the look and feel of a top quality durable product that outshines anything else on the market.
